Alcohol in the UK

So this is the last anti Binge drinking ad in the UK. (Article + video) I definitely think that this advertising doesn’t tackle the real problem about the alcohol consumption in the UK. Campaigns like Know your limits or Drink aware are mostly making the point about heavy drinking.
The real problem isn’t just heavy drinker but the culture of Alcohol in the UK… Some statistics from the
national statistics: “in 2004/05, 73 per cent of men and 58 per cent of women in Great Britain had had an alcoholic drink on at least one day during the previous week.” When I first arrived in the UK about one year ago I was pretty shocked by the alcohol consumption: fun and sociability are linked with alcohol. And this is what I find the most dangerous: this casual and accepted alcohol consumption. I am not making the point that heavy drinking isn’t a problem but the major issue isn’t tackle with that kind of shocked campaigns.Filed under: campaign
