Search tips

Research is an essential skill for a planner, I’m pretty sure that most of us have wasted hours looking for the right examples, case studies, photos… We can all agree that Google has its limits as a research tool, especially when looking for finite detail.
Asi explained brilliantly that people are the future of good research. However sometimes we may not have the time to wait for others to answers or know who to ask in the first place.
At this point I just want to share my humble search tricks.
I sometimes use Netvibes ‘In my page search’ when I am looking for something I’ve seen recently.
I also use del.icio.us. At the beginning I was mainly using it to store my bookmarks and only quite recently I’ve started to use it as a research tool. Its particularly good for digital examples and articles.
The last one I want to share is Rollyo (click here if you’ve never heard of Rollyo) where you can search within a collection of selected sites. This is especially useful when I’ve read something of interest (not saved it in my del.icio.us account) and not sure which one of my repertoire of sites I read it from.
Do you have any other cheeky search tips to pass on?

Update: You can find my Rollyo if you enter ‘Organic Search’ in ‘explore’
