Transmedia Planning (ish!)

There is a sky one teaser for the TV series 24 going on… Well it is more of a digital marketing idea that a transmedia one. The website http://www.ctuagent.com/ is the starting point of the campaign (use the password 99k36f) to help Jake Bauer saving Los Angeles from terrorists. The campaign is using mobile (both phone call and text), You Tube, different sites and emails to bring the storytelling to life.

This is quite interesting to see examples of campaigns trying to come up with more complex ideas involving different channels. However, this campaign could have been a real transmedia one if there were giving more freedom in the script. I’m pretty sure that there is an active community for 24 out there; it’s just a shame that this campaign only engages you for around 30 minutes when you could extend the idea to proper transmedia planning (involving both above and below the line). Anyway don’t get me wrong I think that this is a great campaign with good viral potential. I wish most of the campaigns were as good as this one.
