What happened to them? I grew up in a culture where showing off your lace ends was as uncool as liking the new London 2012 logo! I remember using different tricks to avoid humiliation, such as tying my laces behind the tongue, or pushing them down the sides of my shoes to escape the possibility that they might be seen! Only a few nerds were actually paying a weird tribute to laces at this time…

In the past few months I’ve noticed that this unwritten rule isn’t respected anymore… Cool kids are now showing off their laces… At first, I thought it was something restricted to areas like Shoreditch… but I went from shock to surprise to discover that teens are devoted to the “Laces cult” in France as well! (I suspect this is a global phenomenon!)

Well now I don’t have any particularly intelligent insight regarding this laces thing! It is possibly part of the whole “Revenge of the geek”, they are ruling fashion now…beware!
